JHPC offers topic-specific classes for organizations seeking a better understanding of key areas within the automated unattended point of sale and payments industries.

The vending ecosystem  

This class takes the material presented in our White Paper to the next level, providing a foundation for those actively involved with or seeking a better understanding of the unique world of the traditional vending operator. This class will take a deep dive into each of the Foundational Practices (from our Industry White Paper) White Paper focusing on how they apply to each of the key Lines of Business (also from our White paper). Our examinations will include real world examples.

The following individuals and organizations will find this class especially helpful.

  • New operators or small operators looking to transition to the next level
  • Organizations looking participate in the consolidation/reorganization of vending operators and/or their suppliers
  • Other stakeholders seeking a better understanding or the operator’s business

Virtual Class ******** Onsite Class

Payment acceptance:

This class takes the material presented in our White Paper to the next level, providing a foundation for those actively involved with or looking into payment acceptance at unattended point of sale locations. This class will look at how payment acceptance evolved and where it is headed. It will identify out the key players and the unique functionality they offer. It will cover the key points of integration and most common points of success and failure among the different stakeholders.

The following individuals and organizations will find this class especially helpful:

  • Those on the operator side that are working with or negotiating with payment enablers
  • Those on the payment side that are looking to enter or increase their activities in the traditional and/or nontraditional vending industry
  • Those on the operator side that are dissatisfied with their current methods of accepting payment, including cash, swipe-based debit/credit cards, tap-and-go (NFC) options, campus cards, and other stored-value schemas
  • Other stakeholders seeking to better understand this critical component of traditional vending

This class is designed to provide critical information to organizations seeking to understand what it takes to succeed in supplying products and services to the vending operator. The class will focus on the key needs and challenges facing each of the different types of operators across their key lines of business. It will cover the interrelationships of the different stakeholders and the products and services they provide. This class can be modified at no additional charge to focus on the areas of most interest to the client (packaged goods, equipment, systems/software, payment acceptance, etc.).

The following individuals and organizations will find this class especially helpful:

  • Existing industry suppliers looking to expand their offerings and/or distribution channels
  • Those considering entering the industry as suppliers or partnering with suppliers
  • Other stakeholders seeking to better understand this critical component of traditional vending

Acquisition, consolidation, and financing:

This class is designed to provide critical information to organizations involved in merger, acquisition and finance activities with operator organizations and/or their suppliers. The class will focus on due diligence, business models, potential pitfalls, and significant opportunities. We will start from the perspective of the operator organization and work our way out to suppliers and conclude with the more peripheral stakeholders.

The following individuals and organizations will find this class especially helpful:

  • Organizations looking to enter or expand the M&A activities within the vending ecosystem.
  • Organizations looking to provide financing to vending operator operators or supplier organizations
  • Other stakeholders seeking to better understand this component of traditional vending

Non-traditional opportunities

This class is designed to introduce attendees to the opportunities that exist outside of automated unattended food and beverage points of service.  We will start by examining the foundational practices that cross over between traditional and non-traditional vending.  We will then examine the additional foundational practices and competencies that are required to move into any number of nontraditional vending opportunities. We will pay close attention to the critical relationships that will come into play between key stakeholders for the venture. The class will include examples of success and failure among some of the early entries into this wide-open field.

The following individuals and organizations will find this class especially helpful:

  • Organizations with a strong understanding of one or more industries outside of the traditional food and beverage business that could benefit from a non-traditional vending application
  • Organizations that have an idea of a specific logistical need but lack sufficient understanding of the practices, processes, and technology of the automated unattended point of sale/dispensing/distribution ecosystem  
  • Organizations that are beginning due diligence for a non-traditional acquisition/investment or facing a buy – build or partner decision within the nontraditional vending space.

Our virtual classes:

Classes are built around a formal PowerPoint presentation. They contain three blocks of instruction each lasting 60 minutes with 20 minutes allocated for questions after each block. A ten-minute break is suggested between each block. A single use license is provided for all course materials. Due to the complex and detailed level of the material presented and the limitations of on line meetings attendance is strictly limited to 5 individuals at no more than three separate locations.

Individual classes are priced at $1,500 each. Payment in full is due prior to the start of the scheduled class. There is a 20% discount per class for an organization booking subsequent classes within one year of the completion of the first class.

Our on-site classes

Classes are built around a formal PowerPoint presentation. They cover the same material as the virtual classes at a slower pace. This allows for greater attendee interaction. These classes contain four blocks of instruction each lasting 90 minutes with questions addressed in real time. A working lunch is scheduled between blocks 2 and 3 where attendees can interact with the JHPC instructor. A fifteen-minute break is suggested between blocks 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. A single use license is provided for all course materials. Due to the interactive nature of the class, JHPC recommends limiting classes to 15 attendees.

Individual classes are priced at $3,000 plus consultants travel related expenses. Payment in full is due two weeks prior to the start of the first class. Client is responsible for providing the classroom, projection equipment and lunch. There is a 20% discount for an organization booking subsequent classes.
